Background
David graduated from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a bachelor’s degree in history. David studied lighting design at Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) in Los Angeles.
David credits his and Alcon Lighting’s commitment to innovation, accountability and quality to lessons learned from his father, Mike Hakimi, a lighting craftsman, salesman and consultant in Southern California for more than four decades.
Today’s commercial lighting requires astute consideration of varied—often high volume—use of space and necessitates integration of smart lighting and controls. David strives to make this possible.
Lighting Philosophy
“The ideal application of lighting is qualitative, expressive and efficient.”
—David Hakimi
